Announcing a lockdown was easy
not for labourers and the smalltime sellers
how difficult would it be to last
for daily wagerers and the homeless wanderers?
The leaders wash their hands off
in their job of taking care of the poor
Will it be enough to watch an episode
of mythology to survive and endure?
To sustain, build schools and
hospitals should be the foresight
to survive, we don’t need temples
and statues says the hindsight
How many would overcome this pandemic?
Maybe many young and the strong
But the weak and the old who died
will be remembered, not for long

Yes, the world is going through the toughest phase of survival of the fittest. But a thing worser than pandemic is the weaker people who dies starving and remains homeless during this lockdown. In no way the poorest could be saved ,untill and unthen they are noticed and saved by the government,😢 Really heart breaking to see loosing lives not in hundreds but in thousands. We all have expected India to be developed by 2020 but not in this way by reducing counts😓. Nice poem George 👌 which made me to share my deep emotions due to happenings of this pandemic.

Thank you for your response Manodivya. I echo your thoughts, it is heartbreaking to see losing poor lives in many with nobody to care.

Yes rightly expressed by your poem, the labourers, the small shopkeepers, the dying isolated souls are alone and are not able to see their loved one’s even while they die, even without a last drop of water. I am so struck without words .
