It is sad to see the debris
on the streets just after Diwali.
Loads of shattered paper and gun powder
will find their way into a nearby river.
With the help of tears from heaven
quickly it reaches the seas then
Chokes and disturbs the ecosystem for long
Sapien, a creature who destroys the habitat they belong.

I believe its the festival of lights –
knowledge over ignorance it enlights,
victory over defeat, and good over evil,
But I see only smog, and it’s here to kill.
Alas! it’s polluting the air we share.
Don’t you see other creatures asking if it’s fair?
Oh, humans! Don’t we realize that where we stand
below our feet what’s drifting away is the sand?

It does not matter, whether we celebrate Diwali, Christmas or Id,
we must all learn to respect the environment, indeed.

Deepawali/Diwali is a festival of lights and not a festival of sound. Let us be fair to all the creatures around us and have a safe and peaceful celebration. In India, pollution during Diwali reaches hazardous levels and may not be safe for elders, the sick and other animals around us.

Great thought George. Yes its our responsibility to keep our environment eco-friendly

We exploit the nature for survival which make some sense but anything beyond that is luxurious danger and inviting extinction. Today it may be some species while tomorrow it will be our turn.
